About the Hotel
Historic Country House
The Bath Priory - A Relais & Chateaux Hotel is a 1830s Bath stone mansion set within four acres of Royal Horticultural Society-standard gardens, featuring expansive lawns, a cedar of Lebanon, ponds, and a kitchen garden. The property includes 33 rooms, each named after a flower, with options ranging from Classic Rooms with courtyard views to Premier Deluxe Rooms with garden-facing balconies. All rooms include Vispring beds, L'Occitane toiletries, and free Wi-Fi.
Dining & Afternoon Tea
The Michelin-starred restaurant serves modern French dishes with seasonal ingredients, overlooking the gardens. The Pantry offers casual dining with an all-day menu, including breakfast, brunch, and supper. Afternoon tea includes finger sandwiches, homemade cakes, scones with clotted cream, and a selection of teas. The terrace is open for alfresco dining and drinks from 8 AM until late.
Spa & Outdoor Pool
The Garden Spa by L'Occitane features an indoor heated pool, sauna, and steam pod. Treatments include facials, massages, and manicures using Provençal products. A heated outdoor pool is available in summer. Guests can also play croquet or boules in the gardens, and yoga mats are provided for outdoor sessions.

Guest Ratings & Reviews
My stay at the hotel was a mix of luxury and convenience. The rooms were spacious and impeccably clean, mirroring the elegance expected from a Relais et Chateaux establishment. The location was ideal, allowing for easy walks to Bath and providing a beautiful setting for a romantic getaway. However, the spa experience fell short of expectations, lacking some key elements to truly immerse in relaxation and rejuvenation.
The hotel offers stunning rooms, but some might be below ground level and close to noise. The rooms can get hot and have a high bathtub which can be challenging for shorter guests. The service is friendly, although some staff may reach over guests. The location is ideal for those who enjoy a walk into the city through the Royal Circle. The dining experience is fabulous with delicious options and a beautiful garden view.
My stay at the hotel was fantastic. The rooms were of very high quality, albeit showing a little wear and tear, but they were huge and furnished to a very high standard, making them beautiful and cosy. The service ensured a totally relaxing and enjoyable experience with lovely and helpful staff always willing to assist. The hotel's location was ideal for visitors who enjoy a leisurely walk into the city through the Royal Circle, and I especially enjoyed the pleasant small pool and loungers to relax. The dining experience was mostly fabulous, although it cast a cloud over our otherwise enjoyable stay. Overall, it was a great place to stay with some minor drawbacks.
The hotel offers incredible rooms overlooking beautiful gardens, quintessentially English country decor, and friendly and welcoming service. However, the dining experience was poor, contrasting with the fabulous character of the hotel dining area. The hotel is within walking distance of Bath, featuring well-maintained gardens worth exploring after a delicious English breakfast.
